Cant Bite My Tongue Forever
While You Try To Play It Cool
You Can Hide Behind Your Stories
But Don't Take Me For A Fool.
2. When you're Gone- Avril Lavigne: This song would also be related to Hamlet because it talks about missing somebody and being sad about that. Hamlet regrets that he could not spent enough time with his dad before he was assassinated so he constantly thinks about him and misses him. He also tries to communicate with his ghost and is sad about the fact that while he was studying his dad was all alone and was taken advantaged by his uncle. He feels frustrated because he thinks that he could have saved his father and by doing that, kept him alive. The song talks about regretting stuff and basically about how things would have been different if she changed and made different decisions than the ones she made. I think the decision that Hamlet maybe regrets the most is leaving his country to study not for the educational part but, because he left his dad all alone. One part of the song that reflects the relation would be :
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
3. Everybody Hurts- Rem: This song relates to Hamlet because there is a scene where Hamlet is discussing with his mom and he begins to cry. He starts losing his mind and starts to grab his mom and to hurt her. When he is doing this his father's ghost appears to him and tells him that he needs to hold on and to calm down. He tells him that his mom did not knew what his brother did so that he needed to stop treating her like that. The song basically tells that when you are down you need to hold on because you might not be the only one suffering and that you need to stand up and hold on because that's life. Hamlet at that point of the movie is not caring about anything. He kills Polonius and does not even care. That reflects that he did not care who he killed or what he did because he have lost his mind. When the ghost of his father appears to him he felt like guided by him because at that point he was really losing his mind. The part of the song that relates would be:
When your day is long and the night
The night is yours aloneWhen you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go
Everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes
4. Scream- High School Musical: I choose this song because it talks about making decisions and how hard it could be to decide whether to do something or not. In the song is the decision for Troy to study what he really wants or what people want him to study. In Hamlet is whether to kill or not to kill. When Hamlet is all alone in his room and he starts talking about what should he do; kill his uncle or not. That decision drives him crazy so he is deliberating of which path he should take and whether his uncle is guilty or not and that feeling of not knowing drives him crazy. Also because his so called friends are influencing him no to do it and he needs to decide between what his friends tell him and what the ghost of his father tells him. Both in the song and the scene relates because of this reason. The best part of the song would be:
The day door is closed,
The echo's fill your soul. They wont say which way to go,
Just trust your heart.
To find what you're here for,
Open another door.
I'm not sure anymore.
It's just so hard.
This would be my Hamlet mix-tape song selection.
